About

I’m a young professional “30 something” living in Oshawa , Ontario. I’ve been working in the Audio Visual industry since 2001, in a few different capacities. I started out as a tech and eventually transitioned into sales or a corporate account manager position where I now find myself. The live event business is an exciting and dynamic job that suits my personality and love of gadgets/ technology.

My hobbies/ passions (they’re interchangeable right?) include food, photography, technology and gardening. I’m also a small business owner, I operate a landscape maintenance company, YARDscape Maintenance & Design.

I commute to Toronto daily for work and I made a concerted effort to purchase the most fuel efficient vehicle I could afford at the time, this was long before I even had thoughts of buying a house. Being in sales and generally having to travel around the city to client meetings and various events, I knew I’d be logging quite a few kilometers a year. I ended up purchasing a used 2001 VW Golf TDI.

Roughly 4 years ago I decided to become a first time home owner.  After looking at properties all over the GTA (Hamilton, Brampton , Scarborough …) and attempting to purchase a number of homes along the way, I finally stumbled across a cozy bungalow with a somewhat large”ish” (30′x300′) property in the heart of downtown Oshawa . What originally sold me or should I say won me over was the backyard and it’s seemingly endless potential.

I’m attempting to give you a condensed general background/ bio of me and my path to the present. I’ve become increasingly interested in ways of reducing my carbon footprint, living more sustainably and attempting frugality as tough as it might be for someone relatively new to this doctrine.

Please feel free to share your thoughts, ideas and comments as I document my attempt at URBAN FRUGALITY along with guest appearances by my trusty 4 legged companions Odin, Mimi and Shadow.
